The buyers of this Bronco purchased it because they needed something with a little higher clearance. Living on a ranch with dirt roads required clearance and 4 wheel drive.

We were surprised when we sat in the Bronco Outer Banks, the head clearance was good. I’m six feet tall. I hit my head, a lot, getting into vehicles, so I was happy about that. Leg room for a six-footer was ample as well. Off to a good start. The interior trim is pretty sweet and the ambiance lighting supplied by multiple LED lights above the feet, around the cupholders, etc., is a big help with interior night-time lighting without diminishing night vision. This particular Outer Banks came with variable cruise control that adjusts to the speed of the vehicle in front of you, seat heaters, steering wheel heat, a huge sun-roof, tinted windows, 18 inch wheels, and a myriad of other technological features this test-driver hasn’t mastered yet. All useful. A couple of our favorite features included the digital gear shift knob control which is smooth and effortless while shifting from drive, neutral, park, and reverse. Of course, “Goat Mode” control, again with a digital shift knob allowing the driver to choose different 4 wheel drive conditions from muddy, sandy, slippery, etc.

The model tested has the 4 cylinder, 1.5 liter eco boost with auto start-up control. Although it won’t win drag races, its zippy, and got us up to speed in ample time in all scenarios driven. We put it through its paces through some of the local round-abouts. The Bronco handled extremely well with minimal lean in hard turns. Smooth, tight handling added to a positive drive experience. As a 4-wheel drive, it’s quite efficient. The engine shuts down at prolonged stops and kicks right back in when you apply the gas. I was a bit skeptical about this feature as I was concerned about lag time when turning left in traffic. But, no worries, the Bronco sprang into action every time. Currently, the owner of this Bronco Outer Banks is getting just over 27 miles per gallon combined highway-city. Any of us who own a 4-wheel drive know this is awesome gas mileage for our beloved rolling bricks.

When opening and closing doors, you get that air-tight, solid sound. It feels and sounds well built (as a brand-new vehicle). Visibility is outstanding with no large blind spots.

The Bronco Sport Outer Banks is packed with TECH. One of the key features is the Remote Start System seamlessly integrated with the FordPass APP for your smart phone. You can start your Bronco, turn on lights, heat, air conditioning, right from your phone – great built-in feature for those cold, or hot days.

Out the door, including tax, title, license, Z-coat paint finish, additional window tinting, the price tag was just a tad over $40,000. When comparing that to other comparable models, this provided the best value and feature combination for this specific buyer. Buyer is considering a second, full-blown Bronco when they are available.

The goats at this owner’s ranch love the Bronco too. Maybe because of “Goat Mode”.
