Lacrosse

Arizona State lacrosse (8-4, 5-3 Pac-12) ended its short losing streak on Sunday. The Sun Devil stood tall in the team’s 11-7 win over Cal (2-13, 0-9).

Cal quickly scored three goals to open the contest. However, for the final 40 minutes, the Golden Bears were held to four scores the rest of the way. Arizona State goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau had seven saves in the win. The defense also forced 21 Cal turnovers.

Carley Adams had three goals, her eighth hat trick of the season. Emily Glagolev recored her 100th career assist, the first Sun Devil to ever reach that mark.

The Sun Devils host USC, a team they already beat this season, on Friday, April 23 on 3:00 p.m. local time.

Beach Volleyball

No. 20 Arizona State beach volleyball (9-9, 3-6 Pac-12) beat Boise State (6-11) 4-1 on Sunday for its second victory over the Broncos this past weekend.

The Sand Devils took three of the points in sweeps, and Lila Bordis and Samantha Plaster closed out their match in three sets.

The Sand Devils will close out their regular season against Arizona on Thursday, April 22.

Water Polo

No. 5 Arizona State water polo (12-9, 6-6 MPSF) was swept by top-ranked USC (16-0, 10-0) in the final weekend of the regular season.

On Saturday, the Trojans won 10-7. The two teams kept the contest close throughout. Bente Rogge scored a goal late in the third period to close the gap to one heading into the final 10 minutes. USC’s Mireia Guiral and Maud Megens rushed out with a pair of fourth-period goals and the Trojan defense kept Arizona State off the board until the game was already decided.

Sunday’s match was more about runs, and USC made more of them on its way to a 11-8 victory. The Trojans scored three to start the match, the Sun Devils answered back with three themselves and USC responded with a trio as well. After the teams traded one goal each, the Trojans held onto a three-goal lead into halftime. That never wavered in the second half on its way to a win.

Arizona State’s next scheduled match is the ultra competitive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships starting on April 30.

Men’s Golf

Arizona State men’s golf finished second at the Thunderbird Collegiate tournament behind a marvelous final day. The Sun Devils moved on four spots on the leaderboard with a -30 total score and a -11 third round. TCU was able to hold off the comeback and hang onto its lead.

David Puig led the way for the Sun Devils, he shot a -10 at the tournament and finished tied for sixth an an individual. Ryggs Johnston placed tied for 11th much in part to his 66 he shot in round three and closed the tournament out at -8.

The Sun Devils now head to Santa Rosa, Calif. for the Pac-12 Championships starting on Monday, April 26.

Men’s Tennis

No. 23 Arizona (18-8, 5-2 Pac-12) spoiled senior day for four Arizona State (14-7, 3-4) veterans on Saturday. The Wildcats swept the Sun Devils 4-0 in the regular season finale.

Despite a win from Max McKennon and Christian Lerby, Arizona started the day with the doubles point.

Wildcats Herman Hoeyeraal and Gustaf Strom won in two sets on courts one and six to set their team up well. While the other four singles matches went to a third set, Arizona’s Jonas Ziverts secured the win on court two.

Arizona State will head to San Diego for the Pac-12 Championships on Friday, April 23.

Women’s Tennis

On Saturday, No. 33 Arizona State women’s tennis (13-7, 6-3 Pac-12) swept Arizona (13-11, 2-8) 4-0 to finish the regular season.

Sun Devil pairing Ilze Hattingh/Lauryn John-Baptiste and Giulia Morlet/Tereza Kolarova won their doubles courts to start off with a point.

Marianna Argyrokastriti swept Gitte Heynemans on court five in her singles match. John-Baptiste and Morlet also won in two sets to clinch the match-winning points.

The Pac-12 Championships start on Friday, April 23 in San Diego.
