There have been some concerns surrounding Ford's choice to use the Bronco name on the Bronco Sport, Ford's new crossover that sits below the two- and four-door Bronco SUVs. While the mainline SUV is undoubtedly a capable and stylish machine that brings the Bronco's legacy to a new generation, the smaller crossover has raised some concerns that Ford is diluting the power of that car by putting the same badge on a car that cannot hope to match the prowess of a purpose-built off-roading machine. However, the Bronco Sport has some prowess of its own.
A Road & Track test earlier this month showed just how impressive the Bronco Sport's top-of-the-line Badlands trim can be off road, but a recent Instagram video has taken the stakes even higher. The video, captured by professional drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr., shows the Bronco Sport Badlands taking on "Hell's Gate," a grueling obstacle in Moab that requires the driver to drive up a narrow, jagged canyon with a sharp incline.

Driver Loren Healy has little issue with the obstacle, using the impressive clearance of the Badlands-trim Bronco Sport to move quickly through the roughest portions of the trail. He gets one wheel well into the air at one point in the climb, but the Baby Bronco arrives safely back on four wheels on its way up the rock structure with relative ease.

Gittin and Healy spent the week putting both the Bronco Sport and a few variants of the Bronco SUV through their paces in a wide variety of tests in and around Moab, including this clip of a quick run through desert roads. You can find more of these clips on each of their personal Instagram pages.
