St. John Central Academy Basketball Camp

St. John Central Academy in Bellaire is holding a basketball camp for boys and girls ages 10-17 every Saturday in July from 9 a.m. until noon. The camp is open to individuals from all local schools and will feature new Lady Irish girls head coach Rob Banyas and more. The cost is $25 per camper for all five Saturdays.

Each camper will receive instruction in team skills, offense and defense, dribbling, passing, position drills and 5-on-5 live games. There will also be guest speakers and each camper will receive a camp shirt and basketball.

St. Clairsville Girls Basketball Camp

St. Clairsville’s girls basketball coaching staff and players will host a girls basketball camp from June 14-16.

The camp will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day. The cost to attend is $40 per girl. The camp is open to girls from any school district entering grades 3-8.Registration will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 14. Each attendee will receive a t-shirt.

Bellaire High School Seeking Football Assistants

Bellaire Boys/Girls Basketball Camp

The Bellaire Basketball Camp will begin Monday and run through Thursday. Camp times are 9 a.m. until noon each day at the Bellaire High School gym. The program is open to both boys and girls in grades kindergarten through eight (8) and open to all school districts. Camp directors are J.R. Battista and John Farrier.

Special emphasis will be given to the fundamentals: Body balance and pivoting, starting and stopping, ball handling and dribbling, passing and catching, screening and cutting, boxing out and shooting. Lectures will be delivered on drug and alcohol prevention, teamwork, attitude, scholastic achievement, goal setting, success and more. Fun activities like dribble tag, lay-up competitions, full court basketball games, etc. will also be included. Each participant will receive a Bellaire Basketball t-shirt. Smaller basketballs and lower hoops will be available for younger campers.

UL Saffield Memorial Youth Basketball Camp

The Union Local Boys Basketball Staff/Team will be holding its 6th annual Rich Saffield Memorial Basketball Camp. This camp is open to all school districts for boys in Kindergarten through 8th grade (2021-2022 school year).The deadline for the registration is June 18 to guarantee camp shirts. Applications will be accepted at the door, but camp shirts will not be guaranteed for late sign ups. The camp will be held on June 28-30. Campers in grades K-4th grade will attend 9-11 a.m. followed by 5th-6th grade from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Each camper will receive a T-shirt, individual skills instruction, camp games/competitions and a message from guest speakers each day. The cost is $30 per player and $20 for any additional siblings. Make checks payable to: Union Local Boys Basketball. Applications can be obtained from the middle or high school offices. Dave Wojcik Basketball Camps

The Daye Wojcik Basketball Camps will be held at Linsly on June 7-11, June 21-25 and skills camp sessions for high school students only will be held June 14-15, 17-18 and Aug. 4-5.

The day camps are open to boys and girls in grades 3-8 and run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and then Friday from 9 a.m. until noon. The skills camps are also open to boys and girls in grades 9-12, and will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day.

The camp will consist of individual skill work, team play, drills, contests and lectures. The cost is $200 for the day camp. The campers will be divided into three divisions and will play approximately three games per day with teams formed based on age and ability. Campers should bring a bag lunch.

The skills camp will cost $125 per player. All of the camps will be held at Linsly’s Stifel Fieldhouse.

St. Clairsville Jr. Sports Baseball Tournament Schedule

St. Clairsville Jr. Sports will be hosting the following All-Star tournaments: Pinto Tournament: June 24-27 and Mustang Tournament: June 29-July 3. Entry fee for each tournament is $300. Baseballs and umpires fees are included in the entry fee. These tournaments are for community/recreation league players only (no travel teams). St. Clairsville Jr. Sports reserves the right to deny/remove any entrants at their discretion. Union Local Girls Basketball Camp

The Union Local girls basketball program will hold a camp for girls entering grades 3-8 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon each day. The cost is $30 and it includes a t-shirt. Pre-registration is preferred. Along with the players and coaches from the UL girls program, former West Virginia University player and current professional player Chase Harler will be on hand to work with the campers on Monday. SJCA Soccer Open Gyms

St. John Central Academy is looking to form the school’s first soccer team. The team will hopefully begin play at the middle school level in the fall. There will be open gyms at the high school to get familiar with the game through June 19. Times are 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. During these open gyms, we will learn the basics of soccer, as well as play a few fun games. You are not required to attend each session and there is no cost. The open gyms are for students that will be in grades 6-8 in the fall and are not limited to St. John Central Academy students. For questions, contact Josh Strope at j.strope@sjcacademy.net.

OSU Strength Coach, Wrestlers at Edison

Dustin Myers the Ohio State strength and conditioning coach will be holding a wrestling/strength and conditioning camp at Edison High School on June 19. A pair of Ohio State wrestlers will be instructing the wrestling portion. They are Klay Reeves and Ke-Shawn Hayes.
