The award mimics the Chuck Boone Leadership Award in football and the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award in men's and women's basketball. One student-athlete, who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements, was selected in each of the other 19 sports sponsored by the conference. The winners were selected by the CAA's Faculty Athletic Representatives.
Harris was a leader for the Dragons both on and off the field in 2021. The senior midfielder led the team offensively and secured her place in several record book categories while also maintaining a 3.96 cumulative GPA. Harris, who also topped the conference with 92 draw controls, was chosen to the IWLCA All-America second team, earned CAA Player of the Year accolades and made the All-CAA first team for the second time. Her outstanding play helped Drexel claim the CAA regular-season title and earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship for the first time. Her success on the field closely mimicked her success in the classroom, named an 11-time member of the Dean's List and honored as Drexel's CAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2020-21. Harris is extremely active in the Drexel Athletics community, acting as a three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in addition to leading the SAAC Executive Committee in 2020-21 as Events Coordinator. Harris opted for a fifth-year option and will return to the field for the Dragons in 2022.
