Volleyball

Arizona State (5-12) fought until the final point, but the Sun Devils ultimately fell in five sets at Colorado (7-10) on Friday night in Boulder.

In a game of scoring runs and momentum shifts, almost all of Friday’s sets were blowouts until the fifth and final set. In a back and forth affair in the fifth, ASU jumped out to a 5-3 lead before the Buffs went on a 4-0 scoring run.

Both sides traded punches once more until things were knotted at 12. Colorado then was able to seal the game with a 16-14 final.

Despite the loss, there were plenty of standout performances for the Devils. Freshman outside hitter Marta Levinska continued her steady play by recording a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.

Libero Annika Larson had a match-high 21 digs, setter Ella Snyder had a new career-high with 49 assists, and Iman Isanovic led all players with 18 kills.

Both teams stood out offensively, and ASU was just a few points from victory. They will look to bounce back on Sunday when the Sun Devils take on Colorado once more. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time.

Lacrosse

Tim McCormack’s squad is now on the longest winning streak in the program’s brief history. Arizona State (6-2, 3-1) won its fourth straight on Friday afternoon, defeating Oregon 18-6 at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

Emily Glagolev was an imposing presence for ASU, recording eight points, six of which were assists as she continued to set up her teammates. Two of those beneficiaries were Kaylon Buckner and Carley Adams, who each had four goals.

Adams’ four goals marked the fifth time this season that the Fort Lauderdale native has picked up four goals in a game. Emily Munro also had three straight goals to earn her second straight hat trick.

Overall, it was yet another solid performance for a team that is on a roll thus far in conference play. During this four-game stretch, ASU has outscored its opponents 78-40. Up next, the Devils host Colorado on Sunday at 1 p.m. local time.
